In Sodo, where resources are scarce and opportunities limited, we are building a community center that will become a beacon of hope and a hub of activity for our children and families. Our vision is to create a place where kids can feel supported, receive guidance, and grow academically & spiritually.

Creating a space for Growth, Learning, and Community in Sodo, Ethiopia

The community center will offer a wealth of resources to help children and youth thrive:

Bible Outreach Programs: The center serves as the hub for our Bible outreach programs where we gather and praise Jesus together.
A Full Library with Computers: Stocked with English and Amharic books, our library will give students access to knowledge and inspiration. Desktop computers will be available for schoolwork and research.

After-School Programs: We will provide tutoring programs and extracurricular activities that encourage learning and empower students to express themselves.

Offices, a Store, Playrooms, & Guesthouses: Creating a space for work and play, while generating sustainable income, these facilities will be used to support our mission, and offer a welcoming home base for guests.

3 primary goals for the Community Center:

1. Meet the community's needs
We see a great need in Sodo, including the need for a reliable space for Bible programs, monthly food distribution, after-school support, and sustainable employment. Our goal is to address these needs by building a place that fosters spiritual and educational growth, community, self expression, and sustainability. We want this community center to be a beacon of light in this community where everyone can find the support they need.

2. Generate sustainable income
In a region where jobs are scarce, the community center will create employment opportunities through our education programs, store, guesthouses, and other initiatives. The guesthouses will offer visitors an immersive experience with Streets of Hope, while the store will provide essential items to the community and generate ongoing revenue for the center.

3. Creating a place for learning, growth, and community
Our primary aim is to empower the next generation and break the cycle of poverty. By investing in this center, we are investing in the future leaders of Ethiopia, providing a space where they can learn, grow, and build meaningful connections with their peers.
